R&D Spain has successfully completed its participation in the UNICO R+D project 6G-DAWN, Decentralized AI and Architectures for Massive Wireless Network Slicing Scalability and Sustainability. R&D Spain will present the main outcomes of this project at the IEEE Conference on Standards for Communications and Networking in Bologna, Italy, on September 16.

Funded by the Spanish government's NextGenerationEU Recovery, Transformation, and Resilience Plan, the project addressed the need for new, smarter network management paradigms that will be required by the expected growth and scale of 6G networks.

6G-DAWN tackled two main challenges: elasticity or the capacity to adapt to varying demands and network conditions to improve the energy efficiency and sustainability of the network, and resilience or guaranteeing secure and continuous operation among the multiple stakeholders. A consortium of four industrial partners (Eviden, Ericsson, SRS, and TELCARIA) led by CTTC, worked on solving these challenges.

Two Eviden R&D Spain's Teams collaborated on this initiative: SNS and Cybersecurity. The SNS Team worked on the development of an Infrastructure Status Prediction Server, while the Cyber Team focused on a Decentralized Intrusion Detection system.
