HiDALGO2 Hackaton In Madrid

A hackathon organised by the HiDALGO2 project on the HPC simulation of the interaction between forest fires and the atmosphere was held from 2 to 4 December 2024 in the auditorium of the Eviden's headquarters in Madrid, with the participation of around 30 people.

R&D Spain organised this event together with the MeteoGrid project partners. The Applied AI team participated in the sessions.

Participants were allowed to bring their own codes to the hackathon and worked in teams alongside HPC experts to improve the performance of their codes or used the pre-installed codes to gain a better understanding of their behaviour. This was the first HiDALGO2 wildfire hackathon, which aimed to help scientists optimise wildfire and smoke simulation models and analyse how to make them operational for use in emergency management.

The event featured sessions where relevant results were presented by various experts, and discussion tables were open to participants with and without modelling experience.
