SEDIMARK consortium

The project SEDIMARK (SEcure Decentralised Intelligent Data Marketplace) ended successfully on 30th of September 2025 after 36 months. Eviden acted as the project coordinator and led the work on Open Interfaces Specification, as well as the implementation of the Open Data Enabler and the SEDIMARK Marketplace front-end.

The project brought together colleagues from the Data Spaces and Artificial Intelligence units within R&D Spain, who actively contributed to the development of a next-generation decentralised data marketplace aligned with the European Data Spaces vision.

To close the project, a remote Final Review was organised by the European Commission on 25th of November.

At the Final Review, the consortium presented the completed SEDIMARK platform, including a decentralised trust and identity infrastructure, AI-driven data quality and interoperability tools, and a privacy-preserving marketplace enabling federated data exchange and service monetisation across domains.

Main results

  • A fully operational, decentralised and trusted marketplace supporting secure data and service exchange with DLT-based trust, Verifiable Credentials, and local data control.
  • A complete AI-enhanced data curation pipeline, including tools for data profiling, cleaning, enrichment, anomaly detection, synthetic data generation, and Smart Data Models/NGSI-LD-based annotations.
  • Four validated demonstrators across Smart Cities, Mobility, Water Management, and Energy, showing the platform's effectiveness in real-world, distributed and privacy-preserving scenarios.

The project has achieved all its expected objectives, including full technical integration, comprehensive pilot validation, an open-source release of core components, and a consolidated exploitation roadmap. Technical challenges —such as energy-efficient federated learning, end-to-end interoperability, and balancing decentralization with usability— were successfully resolved during the final project phase.

Eviden in SEDIMARK

Eviden's contribution has been essential to the project’s success, leading the overall coordination and several key technical deliveries, including:

  • The Open Interface Specifications governing interoperability across all marketplace components.
  • The Open Data Enabler, enabling seamless integration of external datasets into the marketplace.
  • The Marketplace front-end, providing a unified and intuitive user interface for onboarding, asset discovery, pricing, transactions, and service execution.
  • Continuous engagement with EU-level initiatives on Data Spaces and AI, reinforcing Eviden’s position as a reference actor in sovereign data technologies.

These results align strongly with Eviden’s strategic commitment to Data Spaces, Sovereign Cloud, and Trusted AI (leveraging on its federated learning solution), and will feed into ongoing initiatives around Data Spaces-as-a-Service, digital twins, and sectoral AI platforms.

The European Commission reviewers expressed strong appreciation for the project’s technical quality, integration level, and exploitation vision. Eviden continues to collaborate with SEDIMARK partners to explore follow-up opportunities in Horizon Europe and the Digital Europe Programme.
