The project ICOS, where Eviden played a crucial role acting as project coordinator, Key Exploitable Resources owner, technical contributor and exploitation leader, successfully ended after 37 months of work. It involved several colleagues from the R&D Spain Strategy and Innovation Edge team.
At the Final Review, held on December 9th, the consortium presented the final outcomes of the project:
- ICOS Full Stack, a complete set of features and functionalities easing the IoT-edge-cloud continuum management.
- META-KERNEL Layer,
- DATA Layer, a holistic and unified framework for managing data across the edge-to-cloud continuum, able to seamlessly run on heterogenous and possible small devices.
- SEC Layer, a ready-to-use solution for security, trust, and compliance across the cloud-edge-IoT continuum.
- INTEL Layer, an adaptation engine for monitoring, scheduling and orchestrating workloads across the continuum.
- AI Models and Data Repository, an online repository for AI models, datasets, and intelligent solutions developed using the ICOS INTEL Layer.
Our team has played a crucial role in the development of the META-KERNEL Layer, core functionality of the ICOS Full Stack, that allows the smooth orchestration and (re) adaptation of services. Orchestration management services have been recognized as the most promising feature for potential users, and the knowledge gained, as well as the developed functionalities, will be further reused to enhance one of the Eviden products, the so called EdgeHarbor.
The project received very positive feedback, highlighting the high quality of the technical developments and their relevance for European positioning in the continuum arena.
