The final event of the EU-funded project Digital Credentials for Europe (DC4EU) was held in Madrid on 9 July, organized by the Agencia Estatal de Administración Digital (Ministerio Transformación Digital y Función Pública), and took place at the historic Fábrica Nacional de Moneda y Timbre.
The whole-day event marked the successful conclusion of over two years of collaborative efforts, bringing together representatives from the FNMT-RCM, the State Secretariat for Digitization and Artificial Intelligence, the EC DG CNECT and the partners in the consortium to celebrate the project's achievements and discuss future directions.
DC4EU has focused on developing a robust framework for the European digital identity, with a particular emphasis on social security and educational use cases. The project involved 101 organizations from 25 countries, making it one of the largest consortia in the EU. Eviden was represented by some members the Identity Management and Privacy team.
Throughout the project, significant progress has been made in the areas of electronic identity services, interoperability, and verifiable credentials. The project successfully piloted new models for digital identity, leveraging both classical PKI and decentralized PKI approaches. It also has had a deep impact on the European digital landscape, particularly in the development of the eIDAS framework and the European digital identity wallet.
