This project will cover challenges of the IoT-edge-cloud paradigm, proposing an approach to embed a set of functionalities, defining an IoT-Cloud Operating System (ICOS). Its aim is to design, develop and validate a meta-operating system by addressing the challenges of device volatility and heterogeneity, continuum infrastructure virtualisation and diverse network connectivity, optimised and scalable service execution and performance, as well as resources consumptions. It will also cover security, privacy, and trust, and reduce integration costs and effective mitigation of cloud provider lock-in effects, in a data-driven system built on openness, adaptability, data sharing and a future edge market scenario for services and data.
ATOS is the project coordinator and also the technological provider for use case 3 (in-car Advanced Infotainment and Multimedia management system). Furthermore, Atos is involved in innovation development through WP2 (Requirements definition, architectural design, market and technology radar) and WP3 (Development of the Distributed Meta-kernel Layer Module).
This project will cooperate with the other retained RIA projects -such as NEMO or NEPHELE- addressing the same topic (HORIZON-CL4-2021-DATA-01-05) in order to exploit results and synergies, maximize impacts of the Cloud-Edge-IoT project portfolio and coordinate dissemination activities. In addition, ICOS will contribute to the consolidation and coherence work to be implemented by the two CSAs related, OpenContinuum and Unlock-CEI (HORIZON-CL4-2021-DATA-01-07).
